DVA Initial Liability Assessments - No Cost Assessments

Supporting Veterans with Compassion and Expertise

At the heart of ZK Medicolegal practice lies a strong commitment to Australian Defence Force veterans. We understand the emotional and clinical complexity of transitioning from service to civilian life—and the critical importance of having service-related mental health conditions formally recognised by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Our psychiatrists specialise in Initial Liability Claim (ILC) Assessments, which is the first—and vital—step in establishing whether a veteran’s injury or illness is linked to their service. This determination enables access to DVA supports, treatment, and compensation Department of Veterans' Affairs.

This service is provided at no cost to the veteran and veteran DVA ILC appointments are prioritised and veterans seen within two weeks of a referral and the completed ILC Report submitted to the DVA within 5 days after the assessment.
